Dear SiFive team, I just got the HiFive1 board. A closer look showed a soldering short at pins of the U6 chip. The USB to UART bridge. See attached picture. Is it save to power up and use the board? Regards Ralf
Hi Ralf, good eye!
Referring to the schematic (https://www.sifive.com/documentation/boards/hifive1/hifive1-schematics/), those pins (10 and 11) are both connected to Ground. You will see similar “shorted” pins on the FE310 itself and some of the power components. The board assembly house prefers to short neighboring pins that are connected on the schematic.
Thanks Megan for your fast fast response. I was not sure what the count direction for the pins was. Thanks again. Ralf
