Help Needed: Customizing SiFive Freedom E SDK for New Board

Hello all,

I’m working on a project using the SiFive Freedom E SDK and trying to port it to a custom board based on the FE310 core. I’ve followed the docs and some example builds, but I’m running into a few roadblocks.

Mainly, I’m trying to figure out:

How to properly modify the board-specific files (clock config, UART, GPIO)?

What are the best practices for debugging boot issues using OpenOCD on a new board?

Using Freedom Metal without Freedom E SDK

Hello, I am new with working with the HiFive1 Rev B. I want to use MultiZone on the board to implement a little smart home device. In order to use the GPIO Pins I tried to use the Freedom Metal library inside of one of the zones, which failed due to different reasons. Without the rest of the SDK I seem to not be able to trigger any building process for Freedom Metal which means no Machine.h file etc. When trying to add the missing files, the whole compilation process isn’t working properly si…

I just finished taking a CISSP Course, so although I’m more security-oriented, I’m going deeper into hardware and embedded systems these days. Any assistance from those who are experienced with modifying the SDK would be greatly appreciated.
