Just got my Unmatched board and I’m using it with an RX580 card and a 500w power supply. I cannot get any display. I am able to get in via serial terminal but I cannot get anything on display. The first boot attempt I forgot to plug in the extra 8 pin power supply, but subsequent attempts the fans would spin up but I wouldn’t get any display.
The manual said an RX580 was an acceptable card to use. I have two of them and tried both. Same result. Any possible ideas?
I opened a support ticket a week ago as well and I haven’t heard anything. If anyone has any ideas I’d appreciate it. Mouser won’t accept the return saying I have to go through the SiFive and they haven’t replied to my ticket. Not exactly thrilled about a $300 doorstop.
I was able to watch on the serial terminal, but I have nothing from the video card at any stage, bootup or otherwise. Its as if the card isn’t even there. Thats why I think something is defective on the board. at no time do I get any display whatsoever but I could do install and watch from serial port.
Are you using the SD-Card with the SW that it came with? SW releases, I believe after Sep or Oct 2023, have problems with RX580 card but the ones before these do work.
I just tested a Unmatched RevB board with MSI’s Radeon RX 580 8G and Yeston’s RX550 4GB again using the release that was shipped with Unmatched RevB board and they work. Please note that it takes about two minutes to get to the log-in prompt on the terminal and another minute or so before the GUI come up on the display.
Here are some snippets from the boot log indicating that AMD GPU (RX580-8GB in this case) was detected:

If you can share your board’s boot log from the serial terminal that would be helpful in debugging this issue further.
Turns out its not the board. Something someone said about the original SD card triggered something. I was using the SD card to boot to a non-linux OS. If I remove my hard drive and just let the board go off the SD card, I get the xfce with linux. So I know the board is working and I just have a configuration issue trying to go my own way.
