I filed an issue the carlosedp repo asking him to specify a meta-sifive branch or commitid to avoid the problem. I expect that he will update his instructions for current u-boot and meta-sifive when he has time.
Fixed, now the guide has been updated to latest versions and specify them to avoid mismatches!
